Detailed Murchison Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Murchison Falls, Track Rhinos Enroute.

Set off from Kampala for Murchison falls national park. You will drive via Luwero, Nakasongola and Masindi district. On your way to the park, you will break off the highway to visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track Rhinos. You will spend 2-3 hours trekking and admiring rhinos. After this exercise, you will have lunch and continue with journey. Arrive at the park in the evening.

The trip will give you extensive eye-catching panoramas and then arrive at the park in the afternoon. Drive to the top of the falls where the Nile perfects its splendor. Here you will see the calm Nile dipping its self through a narrow gap to fall a gap of about 150 feet down mixing up out a loud white water, an incredible view! Cross over the Nile River by ferry for dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 2: Game Drive Safaris, Boat Cruise and Hike to the Top of the Falls

After breakfast, start an early morning game drive before dawn to catch up with the early risers. This exciting game drive will offer you with animals like the jackals, hyenas, giraffes, lions, antelopes, elephants and the Uganda kob among others. You will rest from the game drive for anything to eat and later lunch.

The afternoon time will be for an open launch cruise.  The boat trip will take you to the bottom of the falls where animals like the buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, elephants and plenty of water birds like fish eagles and rare shoe bills and many more will not escape your sight.

After the water cruise, you will hike to the captivating Top of the Falls. Day 3: Tour the Magnificent Top of the Falls and later return to Kampala.

About Murchison Falls National Park.

Murchison Falls National Park is among Uganda’s largest National Parks measuring about 3,840 square kilometres (1,480 sq mi) together with the neighboring Bugungu Wildlife Reserve and Karuma Wildlife Reserve. The safari park is part of the 5,308 square kilometres (2,049 sq mi) that make up the wider Murchison Falls Conservation Area (MFCA).

This wider park is in Masindi District in western Uganda and in Amuru district in northern Uganda. The park is a habitat to most African wild animals like the lion, leopards and buffaloes. Elephant, Crocodile, Lion, Leopard, Hippopotamus, Antelope, Giraffes, Uganda Kob and Oribi are also common. The Nile River, within the park, is a home to a variety of water birds, including the uncommon Shoe bill stork.
